About us

About the Forbesy family

We're a genuine family, running genuine camps — because Essex kids deserve the best days of their whole year.

Our story

Born in Great Dunmow — and still here

Forbesy Camps started with a simple idea: give Essex kids the kind of holiday experience that they'd talk about all year long.

We launched our first camp at Great Dunmow with a tiny team, a big fox mascot and an even bigger ambition — to create the holiday camp we'd have wanted our own children to go to. No watered-down activities, no half-hearted days. Just proper, full-on, memory-making fun from the moment drop-off begins to the happy (and very tired) pick-up at the end of the day.

Word spread quickly — because when kids come home begging to go back, parents talk. We're still in Great Dunmow, still at the same school, and the spirit is exactly the same as it was on day one: a family running a camp the way a family should.

Every decision — from the activities we choose, to the staff we hire, to the fox on the gate — comes back to one question: would we be happy sending our own children here?

Meet the family

The people behind every Forbesy day

Forbesy Camps is genuinely, proudly family-run. You'll meet these two at camp — they wouldn't have it any other way.

Health & Safety Lead

Scott Forbes

Scott ensures that every Forbesy camp runs safely, smoothly and with the sort of organised energy that keeps 200 children happily occupied all day long. His meticulous, safety-first approach means nothing gets missed — from risk assessments to ratios to making sure the inflatable is properly pegged down.

Ask any child at camp and they'll know Scott as the one who shows up with the biggest smile and gets stuck into the games just as enthusiastically as the kids do.

Welfare & Experience · Designated Safeguarding Lead

Kellie Forbes

Kellie is the heartbeat of Forbesy Camps. As our Welfare Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), she is responsible for making sure every child is safe, seen and genuinely thriving — not just ticking a register.

She shapes the whole Forbesy experience: the activities, the warmth in how staff talk to children, the way a quieter child gets quietly looked after. Kellie is the reason parents trust us — and the reason kids feel like they belong from the very first morning.

What makes us different

More than a camp. A proper adventure.

There are plenty of holiday clubs. There's only one Forbesy. Here's what sets every one of our days apart.

Every child who walks through our gates becomes part of something bigger. Staff know your child's name, notice how they're feeling and cheer them on. That sense of belonging is built into every Forbesy day.

We're not a faceless chain. You'll know the people caring for your child, and they'll know your child. That continuity makes the world of difference — to the kids AND to parents.

Say hello to

The Forbesy Fox 🦊

Every great adventure needs a guide. Ours is a bright-orange, relentlessly cheerful fox who shows up every morning to lead the charge.

The Forbesy Fox isn't just a logo — he's a character the kids actually know. Shy children warm to him on day one. Regulars race to the gate to find him. He's the reason "the camp with the fox" is the first thing kids tell their friends about.

He stands for everything Forbesy is about: a little bit cheeky, genuinely kind, and always ready for the next big adventure. And yes — he DOES do a very impressive wave.

he's basically camp royalty 🧡
